     Medical Fund:

Prefund to rescue ill and injured

                                      dogs from area shelters.

A unqiue way of saving a dog's life in need of special care.

The Medical Fund is a new program that seeks to provision in advance funding and other requirements necessary to take care of dogs with certain medical illness and injury, before they are admitted to HLSPCA.

Many times we go to shelters to find sick dogs with curable diseases that we cannot intake due to the high costs of medical care, time and special needs for recuperation and healing.  But we know HLSPCA can help them.

The Medical Fund is more than raising money, it is also provisioning all other aspects of care, such as our veterinarians, a Foster family and the peace of a home, with a watchful eye, and singular human care.

The long-term goal is to support multiple illness/injury, but initially, we are starting with heartworm positive dogs.  Never in short supply, Texas is one of the top 10 states in the U.S. with high occurrence of the disease.  Heartworm disease is deadly. It's curable. We know what it takes to help these animals get well.

HLSPCA can help these animals.

Once we meet our donation target and other requirements for an illness/injury, we can then go to the local shelters, rescue a sick dog and be truly confident that we have everything in place to save a life, to find a forever home.

They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words:  U.S. incidence of heartworm disease in 2016.

2018? Predicted to be worse.
